Religious Studies

The religious studies collection supports the interdisciplinary study of religion, covering all regions of the world and all historical periods in a wide range of languages and formats.

Historically, the collection has covered biblical studies and archaeology, medieval and early modern theology and church history, indigenous religions in North America, African religions and religious movements, American church history, inculturation, liberation theologies, feminist theology, Pentecostal movements, and contemporary sects.

Our current collecting practices focus on strengthening holdings in Eastern Christianity as well as supporting active campus scholarship in Tibetan Buddhism, Islamic Studies, the history of religion, ancient Israel, Christianity and Jewish history in late antiquity, religion in America, Second Temple Judaism, the sociology of religion, and more.
