Guests, Alumni and Retired Faculty

Options for borrowing materials and getting help from specialists, as well support for planning a visit to any of our buildings.

Access to online resources

Our subscription agreements limit most online resources to current students, faculty, and staff.

On campus access to many licensed resources is available on guest computers.

Michigan residents can use Michigan eLibrary eResources with a valid Michigan driver’s license, state ID number, or library card number issued from a public library in the state.

Access to onsite materials

Guests not affiliated with the university can visit and use items off the shelves

Items in offsite shelving can be held for you to use onsite at designated locations. Consult Library Catalog Search to find item information and submit your request at least 3 business days before your visit.

Retired faculty and staff privileges

Emeriti faculty are considered current faculty and can use their U-M credentials for online access.

All retired faculty and staff can borrow materials and request items from another institution through interlibrary loan.
