Wish List
We continue to build our collections to support research and instruction, and appreciate donor contributions that allow for the acquisition of special items on our wish list.
To help us acquire an item from the list below, contact us at librarydevelopment@umich.edu.
$100 to $1,500

Computer and video games and equipment
We're interested in your games, and the equipment used to play them, to add to our Computer and Video Game Archive.
Donation: $100-$1,000

The Illuminated Fightbook
This richly illustrated manuscript explains a system of combat with sword and shield. This 2 volume set would complement our early modern military history collection.
Donation: $1,200

Acquisitions in Special Collections
Help us acquire materials that require funds beyond our Special Collections Research Center budget — items like rare books, manuscripts, maps, papyrus, and other archival materials.
Donation: $1,000-$50,000
$5,000 to $50,000

Support Open Access publication of U-M Press books
We'll publish an ebook open-access (free of charge to users) to relieve students of textbook costs, enable access for scholars, and dramatically expand global readership.
Donation: $5,000 – $10,000

Study carrel project
We'll renovate a popular, enclosed study carrel in the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library with new carpeting, fresh paint, a reading lamp, a comfortable chair — and a plaque with your name on it.
Donation: $20,000 per carrel

Soundproof study pods
Soundproof pods (single-user and large accessible group pods) are semi-private (and very popular) spaces where students can make phone calls, attend video classes, or collaborate in hybrid meetings.
Donation: $17,000 for single or $45,000 for group

Support Open Access disciplinary book series
Help publish a U-M Press series — in political science, disability studies, poetry, classical studies, or performing arts — as open-access (free of charge) to relieve students of costs, enable access for scholars, and expand global readership.
Donation: $20,000 – $30,000

Bruker Handheld XRF Spectrometer
Allow faculty, students, and researchers to access materials safely. X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) helps conservators detect harmful chemical elements — like mercury or arsenic — in books or on paper.

$50,000 and above
