I’m the librarian for the Philosophy Department, and also coordinator of the Hatcher Graduate Library Reference Collection housed in the Reference Reading Room, and of the library’s Core Electronic Resources--general information, news, and broadly interdisciplinary online resources.

I serve as chair of the library’s Core Electronic Resources Team (or Core E-Team), and the General Reference & Popular Press E-Team, and coordinate the group of library staff who maintain and edit the descriptions in U-M Library Databases Search.  I have a strong interest in the technical aspects of public access to materials, and am a member of the library's Discovery & Access Advisory Group that advises on the design and development of access tools.

I hold master's degrees in Information & Library Studies (University of Michigan, 1990) and English (University of California-Berkeley, 1987) and a BA in Philosophy (University of Chicago, 1982).  I wrote a master's thesis on Proust’s influence on two contemporary American gay authors, and an undergraduate honors thesis on Hans Reichenbach’s philosophy of science.
