Asia Library Travel Grants

We welcome scholars from outside the university to apply for this grant to help cover the cost of travel to the Asia Library.

Our East Asian collection contains more than 1 million volumes of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language materials in the humanities and social sciences, including history, philosophy, literature, arts, cultural studies, and film studies.

Eligibility

Advanced graduate students and faculty of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean studies from other institutions.

What it covers

We provide up to $1,000 per trip, paid as reimbursement of your expenses.

This funding is meant to help with the cost of travel, lodging, meals, and photo duplication. Applicants must get approval prior to travel.

These grants are supported by the university’s Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies, the Center for Japanese Studies, and the Nam Center for Korean Studies.

How to apply

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

You must apply through the center that is appropriate to your field of study:

All submissions will include a letter of application, a brief statement describing your research, a list of sources you’d like to access, a current curriculum vitae, a budget, and your proposed travel dates.

For more detailed information on the application process, see each center’s website.
