Café Shapiro

Join undergraduate student writers as they read from their creative work.

History

When Café Shapiro was launched more than 20 years ago, it was thought of as an experiment — a student coffee break designed as part of the university’s Year of the Humanities and Arts.

It then became an annual event to showcase nominated undergraduate writers, whose work demonstrates the engaged creative and critical thinking that helps them understand and participate in the world.

Anthology

We publish an anthology of the work performed each year, and make it available in print and online. Through this process, students have the opportunity to learn about copyright and related stages of scholarly publishing.

Café Shapiro anthologies, from 2010 to the present, have been added to our library collection. They are also available online in Deep Blue, our university’s institutional repository.
