Big Ten Academic Alliance

Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) member libraries and the University of Chicago have a reciprocal agreement for guest borrowing privileges across institutions.

All current faculty, emeritus faculty, students, and staff in good standing at their home academic library are eligible.

How to borrow

What you can borrow and how long you can keep materials is guided by the guest policies for the lending library. These policies may vary by institution.

See the list of BTAA member universities and visit their respective websites to get more information.

Borrowing from U-M

Visit the Hatcher North Information Services desk with photo identification to get a library card.

Borrowing privileges must be renewed yearly.

Returning materials

You can return borrowed materials to any BTAA library and they’ll be sent to their home library.

Planning to visit us? Borrowing and onsite access privileges for guests are the same for all of our reciprocal agreements.
